About usAll parents and teachers at Honeywell Infant and Junior Schools automatically become members of our thriving Parents’, Teachers’ and Friends’ Association. The friends of the PTFA consist of individuals and local businesses who contribute and support us in our endeavour to raise funds and awareness to benefit the children in different ways.
Why do we have a PTFA? We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFA that is, and has been, such an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time the PTFA has raised thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children's education and the in school facilities in general. But it is much more than just fundraising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school and working towards a common goal. We are extremely conscious of the ethos and morals of our school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect these. Not all of our events are run as fundraisers. We also run campaigns to promote walking to school, road safety, an annual Bust the Bug and many more. The Committee and Class Reps The PTFA Committee consists of two Co Chairs, a Treasurer and a Secretary. Each class has a representative, who acts as a contact point for the Co-Chairs and as a social co-ordinator for their class. Our representatives put together invaluable class contact lists and arrange class social events. On top of that, they are our co-ordinators for many events where parental help is needed, be it running stalls at the Christmas Bazaar and Summer Fete, organizing cake sales and helping at the Christmas discos. The PTFA meets twice a term and there is an AGM in September each year. All parents are most welcome to attend these meetings. How we spend the money we raise It is during PTFA Committee meetings that the decisions on how to spend the money are taken. The funds that we raise are spent on both the head teachers’ requests and on suggestions from parents. Every request from the heads is raised at a PTFA meeting so that all parents know and have a say in how the money is spent. We endeavour to spend the monies fairly quick therefor you can be sure that in supporting our PTFA, your child and others will soon feel the benefit. Over the last few years money raised has gone towards
If you would like to get involved with any of the activities that we organise please do not hesitate to contact any member of the PTFA Committee. |
